Super special deal for TucsonMama readers….

Okay. So last summer, around when I turned 44, I started to feel like my skin was really…old looking. Which is to be expected. Nothing wrong with that. I’m not THAT vain. I’m at home in my body and skin! Mostly.

But what annoyed me the most is that I got all those pigmentation spots when pregnant with Clem (didn’t happen with Linc), and they haven’t gone away, and I’ve been reading that it’s not WRINKLES that make you look old, but the tone/evenness of your skin. Fine. I tried creams and stuff, not much help.

So I went to Estudio de Piel (see their ad, to the right of this post?) because I got a Groupon for a “photo rejuvenation” treatment. It promised to help with discoloration and age spots. It works best on lighter skin. I decided it was worth a try and holy cow it was amazing. They numb your skin with cream, and then there is this zappy feel as they target the brown spots. A few days later I could see the pigmented spots rise to the surface–super weird. But then they came off and I swear I looked nearly dewy and youthful. Okay, sort of younger and less splotchy. And the best thing is that it’s not one of those things that works well and then you go back to normal–the zappy part keeps your skin developing new collagen so you continue to see good results for months after the treatment.

Anyway, these treatments are normally hundreds of dollars (I’d read about them and wanted to try them but never though I could afford it, so I jumped on that Groupon!), but right now you can get an IPL (intense pulsed light) (I think that’s what it stands for) photorejuvenation treatment for $75. Book an IPL photofacial at Estudio de Piel. You can schedule online–again, click on their link, at right– with Kelly Muzall–use the dropdown menu. When you come in, say that you are a first time client and want the TucsonMama discount.

The spa is really lovely, smells amazing, and is near downtown in the Mercado San Agustin. You can meet your sweetie for a glass of wine after at the Agustin Brasserie–there’s no downtime from the IPL–you just look a little windburned.

Anyway, I get a little sheepish about admitting to my vain undertakings, but I love this treatment so much that I am going to open up about it and encourage you to consider it if you want to try something new. I’m really, really happy with the results and Kelly, who does the treatment, is an awesome TucsonMama and her med-spa is amazing. I’m glad she is giving other TucsonMamas a chance to try this for a reasonable price.

If you try it, let me know what you think!!!
