Dudes, it’s happening. In August. I have so many questions.
Do you send them with lunch, or do you pay for the school lunches? What about snacks?
How on earth is my little boy even anywhere close to going to kindergarten? Is this how it goes? Sigh.

Deep breath. It might be your first rodeo, but it won’t be the teacher’s, and she’ll tell you what she (or he) needs/wants re: snacks, supplies, volunteers, etc.
We do sometimes home lunches and sometimes school depending on what sounds good, but having been through a number of lunchboxes that fell apart, I have one recommendation on that front: Laptop Lunchboxes.
Hughes gets the kindergarteners in on the first day and then immediately rounds up the parents for a chat in the library. It was supposed to be informational but I realized later they were manipulating us into not sobbing or following our kids into the classroom. Very smart.

In our school district, all the elementary schools are magnets, so we’ve already had to tour them and rank them and imagine Jack in their hallways. We are SO on it. (Oh yeah — and have you seen the school lunches???)
