Public school tax credit program

Please discuss the public school tax credit program–here’s an opinion piece from the AZ Daily Star. We don’t have kids in grown-up school yet, and I need to learn more about these things.

I think it is a fiscally sound choice as a family. I mean to do it each year and then forget. Tomorrow, go and talk to our local school and ask what programs I can give to!
However, I am a touch nervous about some of the potential implications of this program. The schools should be funded properly. I’d rather pay a little more in taxes and have well funded good public schools for all, not just those schools with a catchment that can afford to partake in this program.

This is an opportunity that we plan to take advantage of, both for the public and private school options. As a taxpayer, it’s awesome to be offered such significant credits and it definitely makes a difference while filing. We don’t have kids in elementary school yet, but we’ll find a school that is in need and allocate our dollars there until our son hits Kindergarten. I’m actually really surprised that more Arizonans are not completely on board with this opportunity–it certainly feels like a win-win to us.
