I appreciate Soloway’s perspective and her realization that the “other” women might be human too with desires, aspirations and delusions. There is a definite gendered power dynamic going on here (and in all the other big blow-up infidelity stories.)

I think the American notion of monogamy is a bit off and too inflexible for real life… and in every single one of these big “cheating” situations, I think the lying about said associations and not recognizing the needs that drive their pursuit is much more destructive then sleeping around outside your marriage.
