Okay, this is the coolest thing ever.
I had been getting SO SICK of washing plastic containers (can’t bring glass to school) and they are always all over our kitchen (in no small part because it’s Clem’s favorite activity, the tupperware-toppling), and the plastic creeps me out anyway…
This is a fabulous, environmentally-sound solution. But the main reason I like it is this–it reminds me to put different things in L’s lunch. We tend to be so scattered in the morning that he usually ends up with a scoop of mac n cheese, or a scoop of hummus and crackers (his preschool is vegetarian and peanut-free), or some black beans. We rarely bother with much variety. But the cute little compartments entice me to include an array of good stuff–carrots and snap peas, a few grapes (the other day I hid several pomegranate seeds under his grapes which delighted him!), a bit of fancy cheese. It’s kind of fun to fill up all the little compartments.
It’d be an awesome gift for a three-year-old’s birthday. Hell, I want one for ME!

Okay, that looks cool. Really cool. We have a bunch of boxes that fit into another larger box, but it is still all the washing of boxes. So does the food slop into compartments? Or do you just not do mushy stuff?

Ooooo, did you get one with magnets on? Do the magnets come off easily and get lost? I love the kitty ones.

I just bought a new lunch box. I wish I’d seen this first. Maybe next time?

Yeah, we have rocket magnets! I put them on the fridge when I put the lunchbox in the dishwasher. I wrote his name in a Sharpie on one magnet…it’s awesome.

No slopping!
And they also have these little containers you can seal for really sauce-y things.
I didn’t get them, but for stuff like hummus, it’s been fine as is.

Love these kind of lunchboxes. This looks super cool in the metal and I love the magnets.
We have bento boxes from laptoplunches.com. I agree that it really helps me add variety to the Boo’s lunch. He usually gets some variation on beans and rice in the lidded compartment, then sliced veggies/fruit in the two other compartments and then some cashews or more fruit in the last. It also came with a small lidded container for dips, so we’ve done carrots and peanut butter etc. He loves it and what the doesn’t eat at lunch, he often finishes up on the way home. It really helps us feed him fresh food, yet he can keep everything separate as he’s a bit particular
Drawback is the containers are plastic, though very sturdy and free of that nasty chemical in the plastic bottles. The concept is excellent. Kids LOVE it. We might have to upgrade to the metal version, though.
