They have an Eastside location and a Northside location. We had our son in there for 3 years until this summer. We now have a private swim instructor coming to our house (a former Sunshine Swim School instructor). The private lessons have been quite convenient and thanks to that instruction, our 2 1/2 year old daughter is now swimming underwater independently for short distances (about 8 feet at a time) and is learning how to back float and how to dive off the edge of the pool, come up, and find the wall, among other things! Anyway, Sunshine Swim isn't the least expensive place you can go, but they're good. Check out Sunshine Swim School. They have an Eastside location and a Northside location. We had our son in there for 3 years until this summer.

We now have a private swim instructor coming to our house (a former Sunshine Swim School instructor). The private lessons have been quite convenient and thanks to that instruction, our 2 1/2 year old daughter is now swimming underwater independently for short distances (about 8 feet at a time) and is learning how to back float and how to dive off the edge of the pool, come up, and find the wall, among other things!

The Parks and Rec thing gets so complicated/confusing to me b/c of the times--you don't really know/can't pick, right? And we both work 8-5, so it somehow seems problematic (the UA ones are 5:45pm) He has no prob putting his face in the water .Last weekend he was on my back and I swam under the surface a few seconds at a time and he loved it. I also have let him go and he sinks and then I pull him up. He doesn't mind going underwater at all--he mainly needs to learn how to float and how to keep his head out of water sometimes... Thanks! It's a group class for $2 and runs 4 days a week for this week and next. Look at the Aquatics classes on www.ezeereg.com for more details (Summer swim lessons) or call Parks & Rec or the pool of your choice for more details. Barring that, Edith Ball and Quincie Douglass pools both have beach entrances. Biggest hurdle for kids is getting them to put their face in the water.
