Don’t forget…

…the “Business of Being Born” screening this weekend.

2pm on Saturday, DuVal auditorium, University Medical Center.

Here’s a review (thanks, Brett!) which manages to discuss the quality of the movie rather than the pros and cons of homebirth.

I’m looking forward to seeing this–thanks to Melissa for her efforts in bringing the movie to Tucson. It has a very limited theatrical release, so we’ll be some of the only people to catch this on the big screen. (I’ll admit I’m a little afraid that I’ll have some kind of PTSD reaction to watching the birthing process relatively soon after experiencing it firsthand, but I’m hoping that it’ll be more enjoyable than traumatic for me.)

Hope to see you there!

And another review from Salon for you…http://www.salon.com/mwt/feature/2007/05/04/ricki_lake/index.html

Which gives a different perspective on the movie. I expect I’m going to take issue with many aspects of this movie, but, if I remember right, Melissa has organized a panel discussion too which I’m interested in. I typed out this long piece on my excellent hospital experience (you know with lots of walking, an easy labor and delivery, wonderful, respectful nurses and doctors, baby at the breast immediately and all this for your high risk mama) but I think I’ll wait for the discussion after I’ve seen the movie to rave about it. No, for once, I’m not being sarcastic. I presume we can take our infants on Saturday?!

Enjoyed the movie! I wouldn’t have known about it if you hadn’t mentioned it here. Thanks for sharing!
