Family Arts Festival

Okay, so there’s no BCC this Sunday, but look, there’s the Family Arts Festival! Head downtown and catch some crazy fun stuff. The reliably entertaining Flam Chen kicks off the event at 11 at the El Presidio Park stage with a Brazilian carnivale-style parade (musical accompaniment by Batucaxe). They’ll then incorporate a hot air balloon into their act, and from there, the day just explodes with cool stuff.

Japanese ensemble drumming, tap dancing, show tunes and cowboy song sing-a-longs, mural making, a kinetic sculpture garden (sounds like a mini-Burning Man for the kiddos!), origami bird-making, painting with a robot’s arm (whoa), and all sorts of interactive, one-of-a-kind entertainment. There are also showcases with information about local nonprofits and children’s services. Looks like there will be some food, though I don’t see fry bread mentioned (a TM fave at these kind of events).

The event runs until 4:30-5, from what we can tell, and takes place all over downtown. Check out this pdf for more specific information, and hope to see you there!
