We knew Baby Club Congress was a guaranteed hit when everyone we ran into this past September, mama or not, mentioned it to us. The emails burned up the internet. Sure enough, the inaugural event sold out well in advance. We were anticipating this, and got our tickets early on. Fun was had by all and we’re definitely going next month. If you plan to attend, grab your tickets now. If it’s sold out, you can try getting a ticket through the Baby Club Congress MySpace page.
A short review: It was great. The kids had a blast, and the parents hobnobbed. Tucson was clearly hungry for this sort of event–the crowd was buzzing (and not just from the alcohol, which was being consumed at an appropriate pace for an afternoon event–steady but moderate). The live music was engaging, and the vibe was just right for those of us new to going out to a club with the whole familia–exciting but safe. The event’s a little spendy–$10 for one grownup, $15 for two (babies/kids are free, and you must have at least one youngun in tow to get in). Free snacks and drinks for the little ones. The promo mentions happy hour specials on appetizers and drinks, which was probably true–but nothing was cheap enough to make us smile. It would have been nice to have a couple pints for, say, five bucks, and maybe lowish prices on heaping plates of fries–easy to share with the kids, and especially welcomed by adults who aren’t accustomed to downing a drink or two before 5pm. Because no one does that, right? Right. All in all, especially given that it’s BCC’s maiden voyage, so to speak, we were elated. We’re planning to hit the club regularly in the coming months, and hope to see you there. Remember to get those tix in advance, lest you miss the fun once again.
